The United States, South Korea and Japan air forces held a joint military exercise over the sea of Japan and the Korean peninsula on Tuesday (10) to enhance their "fighting skills"

"This is a clear demonstration of our ability to conduct ongoing operations with all our allies anytime, anywhere," said US Air Force Capt. Patrick Applegate in a statement. Applegate noted that the exercise has enhanced the "technical capabilities of each nation's aviators"

It was the first time that US B-1B bombers performed nightly exercises with aircraft from Japan and North Korea. Japan used F-15 fighters and South Korea F-15K fighters. The exercise demonstrated "significant capacity" for the United States and its allies, said Patrick Applegate.

Warplanes have been conducting an air strike on the Korean Peninsula and the firing of air-to-ground missiles, Yonhap news agency reported.
