American super-destroyer Zumwalt breaks during tests

Míssil teleguiado USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) transita a estação naval de Mayport em seu caminho para o porto de Jacksonville, Flórida, 25 de outubro de 2016

Tests of the new US destroyer USS Zumwalt were halted due to a malfunction. The vessel then returned to the shipyard in the state of Maine, according to a statement in the US Navy quoted on the USNI News website.

The day after leaving the shipyard, the ship's harmonic filters, which protect sensitive electronic equipment from undesirable vibrations, have been damaged. The USS Zumwalt lost its ability to utilize its complex electrical network at high loads.

The stealthy destroyer was launched into the water in the fall last year, however, it has already had to be repaired several times. Thus, he first had a leak in the propulsion unit of the ship. A month later, the vessel's heat exchangers were damaged. Subsequently, the vessel was towed to its base.
