Cameron seeks the support of Parliament to bomb Syria

MPs decide to UK, who has participated in attacks in Iraq, will join campaign also in Syria, as advocated by the government. Trend is yes, but prime minister's controversial statement can cost you votes.

The UK Parliament will vote on Wednesday (02/12) on the country's participation in the airstrikes in Syria the targets of the terrorist group "Islamic State" (EI), after months of disagreements between conservatives and opposition labor.

"I can announce that I will recommend to the Cabinet tomorrow [Tuesday] we have a debate and a vote in the House of Commons on the air strikes," said Prime Minister David Cameron, ensuring that "there will be a long and full debate on Wednesday".

Cameron argues that British aircraft, which are already bombarding EI targets in Iraq for more than a year, should also attack the terrorist organization in Syria.

But the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, a known activist against the war, accusing the prime minister of "rush to war" and urged Labour MPs pro-bombing in Syria to rethink their positions.

On the eve of the vote, the debate between the two sides returned to intensify, with Cameron calling labor terrorist sympathizers.

The prime minister, who wants to avoid a parliamentary defeat similar to 2013, when they were in debate plans to bomb forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made it clear that it would only take the issue to be voted on if he was sure of his victory chances .

The odds, in fact, are good because Corbyn chose to release the Labour MPs to vote according to their consciences, thus breaking a partisan cohesion tradition in important decisions. Some analysts, however, estimate that the recent Cameron's statement about the "terrorist sympathizers" can cost you votes.

On the evening of Tuesday, the eve of the debate, thousands of people gathered in central London to protest against the government's plans. The protesters displayed placards and banners with the words

Do not bomb Syria (not bomb Syria).
The debate begins around noon (local time), and the vote should take place at night, after ten hours of discussion.
