A survey released on Thursday (10) in the United States indicates that 57% of Americans reject the proposal by Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump to ban the entry of Muslims in the country.
A survey by NBC and the newspaper "The Wall Street Journal" also shows that 25% of Americans supported the proposal, and the remaining 18% have no opinion or are not sure of it.
On Monday (7), Trump, who leads opinion polls among the Republican candidates for the election next year, proposed temporarily prohibit entry to US foreign Muslims until the authorities seek other solutions to the recent terrorist attacks whose leaders were jihadists.
The proposal was made because of the massacre in the Californian city of San Bernardino, which left 14 dead and 20 wounded, and the recent terrorist attacks recorded in Paris.
According to the survey data, the Republicans are divided on the proposal for Trump: 42% support his idea and 36% opposed, with 22% undecided.
Among Democrats, however, the differences are clear: 75% oppose, 11% support the idea of Trump and the remaining 14% have no opinion or are not sure of it.
The survey also indicates that 59% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Muslims, and 29% sees them negatively. Among Republicans, however, 48% do not have a favorable opinion of Muslims, while 43% have it.
The poll also shows that 41% of respondents believe that the pronouncements of the electoral campaign of Trump are insulting and often have a wrong approach. Among Republicans, only 16% think that the tone of New York tycoon is offensive.
The survey was conducted with 1,000 adults between the 6th and 9th of December, about 400 of them by mobile phone, although data released by NBC not detailing what the method of others.
Several questions were asked, but those relating to the proposed Trump were directed to 495 people between 8 and 9 December.
