White House rejects Pentagon plan for closing Guantanamo, says WSJ
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The government of US President, Barack Obama, considered too expensive the cost estimated by the Department of Defense for closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the construction of a replacement site, and made a request for review, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing officials familiar with the issue.
The Pentagon has estimated the cost of closing the prison and other construction in the United States at up to 600 million dollars, including 350 million for the works, officials said, according to newspaper.
