Citizens of Woodland, in the US state of North Carolina, are not 100% convinced by the solar energy production technology. On Tuesday, the City of Woodland voted to reject a rezoning proposal that would allow a field of solar power generation was built by Turkish company Strata Solar Company, according to the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald. The House created also a moratorium on all solar projects.

Previously, the Board had regulated in favor of three other solar energy fields that are not yet completed, but suspicious citizens questioned the decision. Professor Jane Mann sciences told the publication that she was worried that the panels would prevent photosynthesis to occur, preventing the plants, which depend on the chemical process to grow.

"Plants in the area around the solar panels are brown and dead because they did not receive enough sunlight," said the teacher. The resident Bobby Mann, in turn, said it was concerned that the panels would "suck all the energy from the sun," the newspaper said.
Representatives of Strata Solar Company tried to argue. Brent Niemann, for example, tried to argue that the panels use only sunlight that hits them directly. "The panels do not pull additional sunlight," he said. "This is a tried and tested technology."

The climate change agreement signed in Paris on Saturday (12) was the most significant indication so far that the world is moving away from fossil fuels and renewable looking for.
