The meeting in Brussels was the first among EU leaders since the November 13 attacks, claimed by Daesh, which killed 130 people and left hundreds injured in the capital of France.

The attacks "only strengthened our resolve to continue our uncompromising fight against terrorism and to make full use of all the tools at our disposal, including close coordination with key partners such as the United States," said EU leaders said in a statement ensemble.

The leaders also agreed that it was crucial to implement systematic controls and coordinate the bloc's external borders in order to know who goes in and out, and promised to quickly review the proposals of the European Commission to combat illegal arms sales, especially semi-automatic weapons used by some of those responsible for the attacks in Paris.
