Toyota suspends production in Japan for a week after explosion



Tokyo, February 1 (EFE) .- The automaker Toyota announced on Monday (1) to suspend production at all of its assembly plants in Japan for a week after an explosion at a steel plant caused shortages parts.

The company based in Aichi (Japan center) paralyze the assembly operations between the 8th and February 13th in the 12 factories it owns in the Asian country, which will also affect the production lines of its subsidiaries Hino, Daihatsu and Lexus, confirmed to the news agency Efe a company spokesman.

The Japanese manufacturer has demonstrated an explosion registered on January 8 in a unit of its subsidiary Aichi Steel reflected in the preparation of steel parts, which motivated his decision.

The world leader in the automotive sector said in a statement which provides resume domestic operations on 15 February, and that the suspension will not affect in any case its production abroad.

Toyota in Japan produces an average of from 13 thousand to 14 thousand cars per day.

The company assured that "will continue to take the necessary measures to minimize the impact of this incident," as in producing alternative routes operated by Aichi Steel and purchasing parts from other steelmakers.
