Film, which will be launched in 2017, will include other North American cinema heavyweights. Actor had already shown interest in the role in a recent interview.
The American actor Leonardo DiCaprio have agreed to interpret the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a movie called "Putin," the Dojd TV channel.
"The filming of 'Putin' will start in the second quarter of 2016 and the film will be released on the big screen next year," said Valeri Saarian, representative of Knightsbridge Entertainment, responsible for the production studio.
The film, whose script is being finalized, will be shot in Russia, the US and Europe, and must rely on other big Hollywood names not disclosed yet.
Although Saarian has not announced the director responsible for long, it is known that production will be handled by Mark Damon ( "Monster - Desire Killer").
Also according to the Dojd channel, the Russian president would have knowledge of film.
In mid-January, DiCaprio told the German newspaper "Die Welt" being "fascinated by Russian history" and would like to represent Putin on the big screen. Lenin and Rasputin would be other interesting characters, according to the actor.
