The Brazilian who is behind the luxury concept of spas

The trajectory of Renata de Abreu, currently spa consultant, therapist and partner of Spa Home in Miami, has always been linked to wellness and body treatments. For more than 20 years, I have been working with therapies for pregnant women. He then opened a spa in Belo Horizonte and, thanks to him, realized that most of his clients traveled to Angra dos Reis on the coast of Rio de Janeiro during the summer. This is how the idea of personalizing a car and offering services at home emerged, an initiative that was a turning point in his career.


Luciano Huck (Brazilian TV presenter) noticed the personalized cars circulating around the condominium and wanted to know the initiative. When the therapist realized, she was already live on the show "Stars", commanded by the wife of the presenter, Angelica, on TV Globo (Brazil). In 2008, another important fact: after the death of shiatsu master Luiza Sato, the Fasano hotel chain was "orphaned" by a consultant for her spa. "I took the units of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and, later, Punta del Este. At the time, the spa notes increased the hotel's rating in the Leading Hotels of The World, "he recalls.

After graduating from The Chopra Center, the school of Depak Chopra, an Indian physician based in the United States, Renata has become even more committed to treatments that are done from the inside out, which do not deal only with the cosmetic part. The health of the body, mind and food are considered, by her, key pieces for the therapy that proposes.

Currently Renata spends most of her time in Miami, where she inaugurated, in late 2016, alongside project manager Nathalya Benevides, the first physical point of Spa Home in the Sunny Isles Beach region. The next step will be to open more units, as it believes the US market has a lot of potential. The Brickell and West Palm Beach regions are being carefully studied.

Spas consulting is a significant arm of your business. In addition to the Fasano hotels, Renata and a team of professionals have already implemented and renewed concepts in Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. At the moment, his main efforts are concentrated in the spa of the resort Nekupe, Nicaragua, which will be ready in September. "It's a super-luxurious project. The environment of the spa will have an organic vegetable garden, salt room (therapy done in air-conditioned room), ayurvedic medicine treatments and suspended yoga room, "he said.

Among the current projects are also hotel workshops, focused on the public that seeks to relax and detoxify the day-to-day running. Called Perfect Health, the program detailed in these presentations includes detox feed based on the concepts of ayurveda, meditation, body and facial treatments and instructions that use as a basis for yoga. The most recent edition was held at The Standard in Miami. A treatment day runs for $ 750. New York City should host a workshop soon, at The Mark Hotel (Upper East Side) or The Standard (Meatpacking District).
