US leader Donald Trump considers the Federal Reserve System and his interest rate hike policy the main threat to his success as US president, he said in an interview with Fox Business Channel.

"The main threat to me is the Federal Reserve because the Fed is raising rates too fast and too independent," Trump said.

At the same time, Trump pointed out that he can not blame anyone for this, as he appointed the leaders of the Federal Reserve, adding that he was disappointed in some of these.

The US leader has repeatedly criticized the central bank for raising interest rates, arguing that this could affect economic growth.

Donald Trump appointed Jerome Powell as chairman of the Federal Reserve at the beginning of his term, replacing Janet Yellen. However, Powell continued the policy of raising interest rates.

This September, the US central bank again raised the rate by 0.25% to 2-2.25% and plans to follow this course. The Federal Reserve also forecasts an additional rate increase of 3 percent in 2019 and 1 percent in 2020.
