Media: Former KGB agents help protect Kim Jong-un
North Korea has allegedly hired former State Security Committee agents, known by their acronym KGB, a Soviet intelligence agency, to help protect the country's leader, Kim Jong-un, reports the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, Citing competent sources.
According to the newspaper, about 10 former KGB agents who had worked in the counter-terrorism department were invited by Pyongyang last February.
The North Korean authorities have asked them to train Kim Jong-un's personal guards and share their experiences in preventing attacks, neutralizing terrorists and fighting spies.
According to the Asahi Shimbun, North Korean officials are mainly interested in protecting the country's leader from possible attacks that the US can make using the latest weaponry.
Pyongyang is especially afraid of the North American attack drones Gray Eagle.
In early May, representatives of the North Korean Ministry of National Security stated that the CIA and the South Korean intelligence service were planning to eliminate Kim Jong-un with a biochemical substance.
