India and China decide to withdraw their troops from the border in Doklam
China and India reached an agreement to "expedite" their border troops in the Doklam area after more than two months of fighting, the Foreign Ministry said.
"In recent weeks, India and China have maintained diplomatic contacts on the situation in Doklam. In these contacts we have been able to explain our point of view, our concerns and interests ... Based on this, an 'expedited' Of the border guards in the area of clashes in Doklam, "reads the ministry statement.
In late June, a group of Indian border guards crossed the Chinese border illegally in the Sikkim state area to prevent the Chinese military building a highway in the Doklam area of Tibet. According to India, its decision was coordinated with the Bhutanese government and aimed at preventing a change in the status quo in the region because, according to New Delhi and Thimphu, the border issue in the region would not yet be resolved. Beijing, for its part, points out that the territory in question belongs to China. Clashes between the military of the two countries lasted more than two months.
