Was the formula for making methamphetamine in "Breaking Bad" real?

The late series made a point of being as realistic as possible. But I took some care not to turn a tutorial on how to do drugs at home

Yes. Some steps and ingredients are identical to those used to make the drug in real life. However, key process steps are left out of the scenes to not encourage viewers to cook meth in the kitchen itself.

To ensure realism, the program was led by chemistry consultant Donna Nelson of the University of Oklahoma who volunteered to help with the scripts. And the actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul learned the lawsuit with chemists from the American Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The biggest difference in real life is the color of the result: in a process like that used by Walter White, the pure crystals would be transparent or yellowish, not blue.
