On August 21, 2017, the US Space Agency will launch two WB-57F bombers to chase the moon's shadow during the solar eclipse.
The structure of the aircraft has been modified: they are currently equipped with small telescopes that have cameras needed to observe the astronomical phenomenon, reports Gizmodo.
The eclipse over a still point on the Earth's surface extends for 160 seconds, however, the modified WB-57F bombers will make it possible for scientists to observe it for another minute and ten seconds.
The Moon's shadow runs at a speed of 4,000 kilometers per hour.
