The United States will send additional military reinforcement to Eastern Europe in early 2017 to ensure the defense of their allies against probable aggression of Russia, said on Wednesday (30/03) the US Military Command in Europe.

A brigade - about 4,500 soldiers - will drive rotating missions in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, adding to the other two that are already in the region.

"The army's plan is more a demonstration of strength and balance of our approach to ensure the defense of our partners and NATO allies, against the increase of Russian aggression in Eastern Europe and other regions," said Gen. Philip Breedlove, commander of the American mission in Europe.

"Our allies and partners see a more frequent presence in their countries of a brigade of armored with more modern equipment," he added.
The measure is part of the so-called European Initiative Reinsurance, developed in response to growing concerns by Eastern European countries, after the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula by Russia in 2014.

The US military budget for next year provides for an increase in funding from the European Initiative Reinsurance for $ 3.4 billion, quadrupling the values previously available.
