Research: 56% of US population is against wall construction proposed by Trump
A week after the US House of Representatives approved spending of $ 1.6 billion to build a wall on the Mexican border, a poll published on Monday (31) found that most Americans are against measure.
56% of the population believes that the country should not build a border wall to prevent illegal migration, and 37% of those interviewed are in favor of the measure. The survey was conducted by telephone by Rasmussen Reports on July 26 and 27 with 1,000 potential voters. The margin of error is one percentage point, plus or minus.
The wall is a campaign proposal of President Donald Trump and has already caused controversy with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. Trump has repeatedly stated that Mexico will pay for construction, despite the refusal of Mexican officials.
