Palestinian state flag hoisted at the United Nations Headquarters




It is a time considered historic: a Palestinian state flag was hoisted for the first time at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Palestine which is a UN non-member observer state but is not recognized as a state by many of the organization's members.

The president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas gave a speech Wednesday to the UN General Assembly and asked of it done this recognition. Abbas also threatened while respecting the agreements with Israel if Tel Aviv continues to reject them, "while Israel continues to reject the order of settlements and the release of the fourth group of Palestinian prisoners, as set out in the agreements, we have no choice and not we will be the ones committed to the implementation of these agreements. " The president of the Palestinian Authority also said that "those who seek peace and fight against terrorism should start by trying to find a solution to the Palestinian conflict."

This speech received a standing ovation at the UN General Assembly. Mahmud Abbas also noted that tensions in Jerusalem are constantly increasing.

In the last hours, the Israeli police arrested at least eight adults and five minors by civil disturbance near the Al-Aqsa mosque. Since religious clashes resumed in the middle of the month, we have already been arrested about 200 people.

After the recent clashes, Israeli limited access to the mosque. Now, only Muslim men over 50 may enter, a measure opposed by Palestinians.

The religious tension between Jews and Muslims intensified in recent days, when major celebrations for the two religions.
