TOKYO (IPC Digital) - The Japanese company Fast Retailing, operator of Uniqlo and GU networks, announced the launch of the "10 millions of ways to help" which will collect used clothing to be distributed to refugees around the world.

The fundraising campaign will begin on October 2, and will encourage customers to donate used clothes, in working condition, the brand Uniqlo and GU. The distribution of the clothes will be made through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the company said in a statement.

In 2006, Fast Retailing has implemented a clothing recycling initiative to be donated to the refugees assisted by the UN. About 90% of collected clothes were in working condition and were sent to refugees in 37 countries, including Jordan, Syria, Thailand and Nepal.

According to the UN until the end of 2014, about 59.5 million people were forced to leave their regions or countries of origin because of conflict - the largest number of refugees since the end of World War II.
