Vinyl sales grow 30% in 2015 in the United States - were 21 million units sold. The album "25", Adele, was the most traded, surpassing Taylor Swift, the more output in the first half.
"25" has sold 116,000 copies in less than two months, which became the fastest-selling vinyl. The album also hit the record sales in one year since Nielsen began to calculate the ranking in 1991.
Below Adele appears the album "1989" by Taylor Swift, who had good sales during 2015, despite being released in 2014.
Adele - "25"
Number of copies sold in the US: 116 000
Looking at the first two albums of the list, it may seem that only children and people connected on the radio are buying vinyl these days. But a look at the rest of the list shows that it has not only pop stars.
Immediately after Adele and Taylor's "Dark Side Of The Moon" Pink Floyd's album originally released in 1973, often on the Billboard 200 and sold 50,000 LPs last year. The next two ranking albums - "Abbey Road" by the Beatles, and "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis - are also decades ago and sold close to 50,000 copies in 2015.
Taylor Swift - "1989"
Number of copies sold in the US: 74 000
Pink Floyd - "Dark Side Of The Moon"
Number of copies sold in the US: 50 000
Who, then, are buying vinyl? Are children who like pop music, played on the radio, or the older generation who go to record stores and buy LPs for years? Both, and other profiles also in minor amount. Many other titles that were sold in the last year did not come into either category.
The Beatles - "Abbey Road"
Number of copies sold in the US: 49,800
