Washington, United States - The Capitol and the White House were closed on Monday after reports of the presence of a shooter at the Capitol Visitors Center, witnesses and a police source.
This man would have been arrested, according to local press, which evoked a wounded police in the incident.
"There is no active threat to the public," he tweeted the police of Washington DC.
The Capitol, which houses the Senate and the House of Representatives, currently in Easter recess, is still closed "while the Capitol police are investigating" the incident, said the police Senate U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms Office.
A previous Capitol internal message spoke of "fire information inside the visitor center" site.
The White House has also been isolated and prohibited employees from entering or leaving the building, according to an AFP journalist.
