Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders, the pre-candidates who run out to try to get the directions of their parties to run for president of the United States, won the primaries in Wisconsin, on Tuesday (05/04).
Victory Cross represented another setback for Donald Trump, the favorite for nomination of the Republican Party. Billionaire hoped to gather the required number of delegates to secure the nomination before the Republican convention in July.
To receive the Republican nomination, 1,237 delegates are needed. Trump currently has 739 and Cruz, 502. Trump's defeat in Wisconsin was joined by a series of negative results for his candidacy in recent days
.
Cruz received the support of the party sectors struggling to try to prevent the appointment of Trump. Some of the major Republican figures fear that the candidacy of billionaire involved in several controversies, resulting in defeat in the presidential elections in November.
Sanders gains new momentum
The Democratic Party, the presidential candidate Bernie Sanders won extra breath in his attempt to overcome the favorite pre-candidate Hillary Clinton. In Wisconsin, the Vermont state senator got his sixth victory in seven last party primaries.
Sanders, however, must struggle to overcome the former secretary of state. The next Democratic primary will be in the state of New York - in which Clinton served as a senator - on 19 April and in five states of the American east on the 26th of the same month.
To win the Democratic nomination, the votes of 2,383 delegates are needed. So far, Clinton has 1,274 votes and Bernie Sanders, 1,025.
The senator, however, said he did not believe in favoritism of his competitor. "Do not tell this to Clinton, she's getting a little nervous. But we have great chances of winning in New York and win many delegates in that state," said Sanders told reporters. He is campaigning in the state of Wyoming, which has some favoritism to win the caucus (or "caucus").
Senator should turn their attention also to the states of Oregon and California, where his supporters believe he has great chances of winning.
