A year ago Zunduri escaped from a dyeing which kept her as a slave
"From the moment I escaped, the most valuable thing I have in my life is my freedom is the best thing that can happen to you, the best thing a human being can have, the greater fortune:. Freedom . "
The above sentence is a young man who identifies himself only as Zunduri. On April 22, 2015, it closed five years of hard labor in a dry cleaner in Mexico City and, therefore, can expose the drama of modern slaves that still exist in the country.
She talks enthusiastically about his new little prazes: sleep and wake up whenever you want, when you want to eat, take a shower when you desire.
A few weeks after fleeing the scene, Zunduri spoke with a weak voice and avoided eye contact. Now, about to turn 24 in May, is another. With confidence and security, she explains how was the process of rebuilding their lives.
It seems that were far in the past the last two years of his captivity, when she was chained by the waist, was beaten and burned with iron bars and survived without food and water for five days.
The doctors who attended soon after the escape from captivity said she had organs of a person 80 years and came after 600 scars.
The case of the young man who was chained by the neck after trying to run away, shocked Mexico
Activism as therapy
One of the most important points for his recovery was the activism against the mistreatment of people, a crime that is growing in Mexico in recent years.
Zunduri lectures, participate in conferences, speaks of his story to students, police officers, judges, governors, prosecutors and whoever else wants to hear it.
"Somehow, I help as therapy, to tell again and again my story. Yes, it is ugly because it is ugly relive the trauma, all the evil, all the bad that these people did, but unburden help psychologically" said Zunduri the BBC World service in Spanish BBC.
Escape interrupted five years of abuse and violence
Last year, the World Day Against Trafficking in Human Beings, she met Pope Francis at the Vatican as part of the "blank sheet", which aims to warn of trafficking.
"He congratulated me, said he was proud, took a blank sheet in her hands and told me he was glad I was fighting against trafficking in human beings", he tells of his encounter with Francisco.
"When we stop being victims, we are survivors, and since then, we have a new life, a blank sheet, and that sheet, we began to write our dreams, our goals, a new life," explains Zunduri.
When he left the captive who lived chained, Zunduri had more than 600 scars
"White represents peace and since then we have peace in our lives."
In jail
Despite his participation in activism and achievements over the past year, Zunduri says his peace is not yet complete.
"It was laborious forget, forgive, forgive myself, in a way, I felt guilty for what happened to me," he said.
She fears that those who today are trapped by their captivity, the owner of the dyeing, the sister of the owner, two daughters and fellow owner, get out of jail and want revenge.
"I would like to have protection. I am confident in court, I trust in the law. I would like them to pay for what they did in jail," he says.
Zunduri takes precautions and therefore does not reveal personal information.
Merely say that lives in an apartment in the state of Mexico, center of the country, the government gave him.
Before being transformed into a slave, the young man traveled to the capital to help a sales point of creams, deodorants and shampoos that his mother kept on the street.
At 17, he argued with his mother and left home. After his release, he decided it was time to rebuild the relationship.
Now she takes the reconciliation and have fun in the family business, nipped smiles of customers arriving in a bad mood.
"I feel I've come a long way this year, but I have to do more," says Mexican
Flyleaf
On the blank sheet Zunduri is the dream of making confectionery courses and be a mother.
She says she would like to have a girl and you know how you will call it: Zunduri, a name chosen after escaping, which in Japanese means "pretty girl."
For her, however, there is no hurry. He believes that still have many years of life to achieve their dreams.
"I feel I've come a long way this year, I have to do more, not just for me, for others, for the future of Mexico, for the future of girls, children, mothers," she says.
"I feel there is still much to do, one year for me is nothing, I do too."
