After scandal in Rio, Lochte will participate in reality show
The American swimmer Ryan Lochte will try to turn the page scandal in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he made a false assault complaint, with a participation in the reality show "Dancing with the Stars."
Lochte, 32, is among the 13 celebrities who will participate in the next season of the show, which begins on September 12, reported the ABC.
Lochte also made the announcement on his Twitter account.
The cast of the 23th season of the show includes the gymnast gold medalist Laurie Hernandez, former rapper Vanilla Ice, former Texas Governor Rick Perry and actress Maureen McCormick, who took part in the TV series of the 1970s "The Family Sun , There, Si. "
Other participants are the American football player Calvin Johnson, the participants of reality shows Amber Rose and former Indy car driver James Hinchcliffe.
Lochte took the announcement of his presence in the program to repeat his regret over what he calls "big mistake" in Rio.
The Brazilian authorities have accused the American athlete making a false complaint of assault during the Olympics. Lochte had already left the country when he was accused.
The gold medalist said he and three colleagues of the American swimming team had been attacked after a party by criminals in police uniforms.
The case caused a great humiliation for the host city of the Games at first, but then the vexation went to Lochte when police determined that the story had been invented.
Lochte lost sponsors such as Speedo and Ralph Lauren, after the impact of the case. He can still suffer a disciplinary punishment of the American Swimming Federation and the International Olympic Committee.
The American told "Good Morning America" that it's time to move on.
"I never get stuck in the past. I just want to move forward," he said.
"People must be tired and angry to hear about it. I just want to move forward."
