Lilliana Matte, 17, was taken to a shelter for minors in Chicago after facing problems to enter the United States. Since Wednesday (24) it is held in the same place that Anna Stéfane Radeck, 16, brought under on August 11.

A similar case occurred last April, with the young Brazilian Anna Beatriz Theophilus Dutra, 17. She was released about 15 days after being brought to the shelter, returning to Brazil.

According to the account of Lilliana's mother, Anaide Matte, the two were in Miami until the 19th, when Anaide went to Venezuela to make a eye surgery that prevented her from accompanying her daughter on a trip to the Bahamas with other family friends. Upon returning from the Bahamas, on 22, Lilliana was barred by US Immigration at the local airport Opa Locke Executive in Miami.

According Anaide, Brazilian passport young warned that she was allowed to travel alone, but the authorities may not have considered this sufficient documentation. Furthermore, suspicious, the girl reported having taken a selfie in a restricted area, which may have angered officials at the airport.

"First, [the agents] told us that she was not going to the shelter, and it would probably be deported, but she ended up two days later [landing]. She was no bath for two days. She called desperately counting. It is absurd it seems that they are dealing with a terrorist, "said Anaide.

The teenager's mother, still recovering from eye surgery, travels to Chicago on Monday (29) to bring the documentation sent by the US Immigration last Friday (26). "They sent 26 pages in English and Spanish and will take in hand directly in Chicago," he says.

Anaide has spoken to his daughter about twice a week - the last one on Friday, shortly before receiving the forms of immigration. In addition to concern about leaving the shelter, Lilliana has appointments scheduled for September 8 in Sao Paulo. The teenager, who is a model in Roraima, where the family lives, won the Miss Brazil Model contest in 2015.

Lilliana told the mother that the shelter has good hygiene and nutrition is regular. Adolescents have the right to brush their teeth twice and take a shower daily, and gymnastics, but do not have internet access. All are required to use a uniform while they are on site.

She vents on the authorization that the young man has in his passport, she can travel unaccompanied by parents. "We did a lot of things to put this release, but it is valid only for Brazil, not really worth anything. It should be informed by the Brazilian authorities," says Anaide.

"One day she was very happy, enjoying Miami, enjoying the Bahamas, and is now going through it," he laments.

Anaide is in contact with Liliane Carvalho, Anna Stéfane Radeck's mother, and the two try to expedite the release of the daughters. Anna Stéfane also has no date for release, according to Liliane Carvalho said on Monday the UOL.

Asked by UOL, the Foreign Ministry said he was "in permanent contact with the families of the Brazilian smaller and local authorities - in order to ensure due process in both cases." According to the ministry, the two teenagers were visited by a Brazilian consulate dipolomata in Chicago in the last 25.

Also according to the Itamaraty, the audience will decide on the return of Anna Stéfane Radeck is scheduled for Tuesday (30). In the case of Lilliana Matte, the hearing has not been set. "We clarified yet, for determination of US law, the immigration authorities of that country keep confidential the lower retention reasons," adds the note of the ministry.

Already the US Embassy said he was aware of the case. "To protect the privacy of US citizens and visitors to the United States, US laws prohibit us comment or share details about individual cases of visa and / or immigration citizens. We are aware of the case and we know that the appropriate US authorities are also aware and working on it.

We hope that the situation is resolved quickly for all involved, "the statement said.

Problems in the US Immigration

The three recent cases demonstrate the difficulty of Brazilians at the time of immigration to the United States, particularly when it involves minors - that, because they have no legal representative at the airport are subject to a lengthy document verification process.

Suspicion of US agents falls mainly on child trafficking - young people brought to the country to be exploited in illegal work - and teenagers trying to enter the country on a tourist visa to try to study in free public schools, which are required by law to accept the underage registration.

UOL heard by two lawyers active in the US immigration cases gave advice to the Brazilians avoid problems in landing the country, mainly in the request the correct visa and attention to documentation.

In the case of a minor traveling alone, for example, the recommendation is that Brazilian formalize the US embassy a document with such a permit, regardless of the notice in the passport in addition to providing data and a letter from the legal representative who will receive the lowest old at the time of their arrival in the United States.
