Hillary generates negative impression in 55% of voters

Pré-candidata presidencial Hillary Clinton fala com eleitores em Nova York, dia 07/04/2016

Washington - In a typical election year, a presidential candidate to cause an unfavorable impression in more than half of voters would be in serious trouble, but this is not a normal year in the United States.

According to research by the Associated Press and GfK, 55% of Americans have a negative view of the Democratic pre-candidate Hillary Clinton.

Although negative, the figure is much lower when compared to the 69% who have an unfavorable view of the leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The negative sentiment for the pair is an omen that the general elections in November could result in choosing not the preferred candidate, but the least unfavorable to voters.

Strategists Democrats say the strong unpopularity Trump alleviates some concerns about the chances of Hillary.

Although 55% of respondents said to have an impression or something very unfavorable former Secretary of State, this figure is almost the same only those who expressed an opinion "very unfavorable" about Trump.

Almost half of all registered voters to at least consider voting for Hillary, since 63% of them say they do not vote for Trump in the general election. The margin of error of the survey is 3.3 percentage points.
