Trump proposes "ideological litmus test" for the entry of immigrants

Washington - Republican presidential candidate of the United States, Donald Trump proposed on Monday establishing an "ideological litmus test" for immigrants who want to enter the country, as a tool to fight against Islamic terrorism.

"We should just admit this country who share our values ​​and respect our people. In the Cold War, we had ideological determination test," said Trump in a speech about his strategy for combating jihadist terrorism, pronounced at the State University of Youngstown in Ohio.

The New York tycoon pointed out that it is necessary to again vote to deal with today's threats.

"Our country has enough problems. We do not need more," reinforced the Republican.

"In addition to analyzing all members and supporters of terrorist groups, we must sift through all those who have hostile attitudes toward our country or its principles, or who believe that Sharia (Islamic law) should supplant American law," specified the millionaire.

"Who does not believe in our Constitution or supports bigotry and hatred should not be allowed to immigrate to our country. One should issue visas to waiting thrive and embrace tolerant American society," he added.

To take forward these measures, Trump said that the United States will have to temporarily suspend the immigration of some of the most dangerous and volatile regions of the world that have a terrorism export history.

However, the tycoon did not specify which countries could be affected by this suspension.

The Republican candidate recalled some of the attacks in the US in recent times, such as those conducted in December 2015 in San Bernardino, and in Orlando in June this year, which ended with 14:49 dead, respectively, and were committed by American Muslims sympathetic to the terrorist group Islamic State (EI).

"Defeat radical Islamic terrorism," cried Trump, who credited the rise of EI to "policy" of US President Barack Obama and his Democratic rival in the presidential race, Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State in the period between 2009 and 2013 .

Billionaire spoke a week after more than 50 former leaders of the US Republican Party issued a letter in which they expressed opposition to his presidential candidacy for the Conservative Party, classifying it as a "danger".

In the letter, Republicans ensure that "Trump is not qualified to be commander in chief" and it will be a "dangerous president who will put national security and well-being in danger."

Trump act in Ohio also coincides with the great fall of the tycoon in the polls on voting intentions, led by Hilary with large margin at the national level, although in states considered crucial, as is the case of Ohio, the difference imposed by the ex- secretary smaller.
