Tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor (Egypt), which is being investigated
The Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Mamduh al Damati, pointed out on Tuesday (29) the possibility of a new archaeological discovery in the tomb of Tutankhamen Pharaoh, who inspected these days with the British analyst Nicolas Reeves.
This preliminary inspection in the crypt of the "boy pharaoh" is the first step to prove the veracity of Reeves theory, which in August revealed that this burial chamber could also be the tomb of Queen Nefertiti.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Antiquities, Al Damati said that this study of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in the city of Luxor, will be followed by other measures such as using a Japanese radar in late November.
The minister thinks, however, that it is more likely to be the pharaoh's mummy mother, the Queen Kiya, which is in Tutankhamun's tomb, and not that of Nefertiti.
Nefertiti was Pharaoh's wife Akhenaten, father of Tutankhamun and that was part of the 18th dynasty, succession who ruled Egypt between 1539 BC and 1075 BC.,.
Al Damati said there Pharaonic inscriptions found in the city of Tel Amarna (province of Minia) showing that the pharaoh Akhenaten and his wife transferred their residence from the ancient capital Thebes (now Luxor) to Tel Amarna.
In turn, Reeves said yesterday that evidence and scientific bases that confirm its theory that Nefertiti's tomb is inside Tutankhamun's tomb.
This tomb will be closed to tourist visits from October 1 to undergo restoration work.
