Australia refuses to enter the Olympic Village in Rio de unfinished in January

São Paulo - The Australian delegation intended to come today (24) in the Olympic Village, located next to the Olympic Bar Park.

But a village "dirty and unfinished" made the athletes give up the plan and postpone their entry. For now will stay in hotels in the area.

The Village opens today to the athletes. Some athletes have already arrived.

Kitty Chiller, Head of Mission of the Australian delegation, said there are obvious problems of gas, plumbing and electricity.

The village would have clear problems of blocked toilets, leaks, exposed wiring, lack of light and a lot of dirt.

Other delegations had already submitted to the IOC (International Olympic Committee) their complaints about the state of housing, such as the UK and New Zealand.

Out of pocket

Australia, a week ago, had hired their own staff to arrange the accommodation of athletes, but the effort was not enough.

United States, Italy and the Netherlands also paid, out of pocket, temporary staff to carry out works in the apartments of the Olympic Village.
