For years, you can not smoke on airplanes. And if the cigarette is a prohibited herb worse.

A flight recently conducted by British Airways between England and Greece had to be stopped because, 90 minutes after takeoff, a marijuana smell took over the aisles of the aircraft.

Several passengers would have bothered with the smell and the pilot decided to turn around and return to Gatwick airport where the journey had begun.

Still in the air, the commissioners sought the source of the smell of marijuana, but found nothing.

Upon landing at Gatwick, the aircraft was still inspected by a team of firefighters, who found no evidence of elements that could put the flight at risk. No passenger was appointed as guilty for the incident. The jet of British Airways then returned to take off.

All the confusion caused the plane arrived at its final destination (the city of Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete) six hours late.

The Welshman Stuart Barnes, 40, was one of 174 passengers on board. He told the newspaper "The Sun" that the board marijuana odor was "unmistakable". "I've been in Amsterdam and I know how that smell," he said.

In a press statement, British Airways said the pilot decided to return to English airport "as a precaution after a strong smell identified be felt in the cabin."
