FBI investigates cyber attack the Democratic Party group
The FBI is investigating a cyberattack against another group of the US Democratic Party, which may be related to a previous cyber attack against the Democratic National Committee, told Reuters four people familiar with the matter.
The incident in the Democratic Parliamentary Campaign Committee (DCCC, the acronym in English) and the potential link to Russian hackers must feed charges, so far unproven, that Moscow is trying to intervene in the US presidential election to help the Republican candidate Donald Trump .
The Kremlin has denied involvement in the cyberattack the DCCC. Recently, the leakage Democratic Party of emails caused discord in the national convention held in Philadelphia legend to name Hillary Clinton as presidential candidate.
The newfound invasion of DCCC may have intended to gather information on donors, not to steal money, the sources said on Thursday.
It was unclear what data were exposed, although donors typically undergo a variety of personal information, including names, email addresses and credit card details when making a contribution.
It was also unclear whether the stolen information was used to get into other systems.
The DCCC captures money to Democrats competing for seats in the US House of Representatives. The intrusion on the servers may have happened in June, said two of the sources.
