Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed on Saturday (26) $ 2 billion for a new development fund and increased investments in poor countries, in announcing the commitment of Beijing in the fight against poverty.

During the Sustainable Development Summit at the UN, Xi said that China "will put justice ahead of special interests and be joined to other countries" in the post-2015 agenda.

The Xi announcement comes after much criticism from the United States and other developed countries, accusing China of not taking responsibility in accordance with their aspirations for a greater role globally.

Xi said China will launch an assistance fund "South-South" to developing countries with an initial investment of $ 2 billion.

He said his country will also increase investment in less developed countries, at least 12 billion by 2030.

Chinese investments have grown considerably in the world, although generally focus on the search for natural resources rather than broader humanitarian aid.

Xi assured that China will further ease this year the debts of developing countries, but did not report the amount of debt or which countries.

On Friday, the United Nations established the goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030, an effort that the international organization says will require up to 5 billion annually.
