CLEVELAND, United States (Reuters) - With his running mate already set and the apparent endorsement of the US Republican Party, Donald Trump is preparing this week for a noble moment in his campaign that seemed unlikely a year ago: confirmation as a candidate the president by the party.
The appointment of businessman should happen at the end of the Republican National Convention, which begins on Monday in Cleveland and will last four days. In order to suit the extravagance of Trump, the convention this time must address lighter subjects than in past occasions.
According to campaign coordinator Paul Manafort, the convention will focus on Trump's personality from their home environment to their business interests, and at the end will show that it is ready to be president.
"I think we'll see more about the person," he said.
On Saturday, Trump gave another display of all its theatricality, framed along the years as star of reality show on television.
While officially presented the vice president on his plate, the governor of Indiana Mike Pence, Trump eschewed again and again subject to beat his opponent Democrat Hillary Clinton and exalt his own business acumen.
He acknowledged, however, that chose Pence, a conservative Christian, to help strengthen a party that had a hard time to unite for the sake of real estate mogul with his unorthodox style and improvised means of campaign. It was as if he admitted he needed the "yin" veteran politician to counteract his "yang" in preparation for the elections of November 8.
The Trump interview on Saturday was his last on the microphones before the speech next Thursday, when he will speak now as a Republican candidate.
"The speech of the convention will be the most important moment of the campaign, before the largest possible television audience," said marketeer GOP Matt Mackowiak.
