US warns Turkey about going too far against coup
Washington - The United States warned Turkey on Monday about going too far to try to bring to justice those responsible for the attempted Friday coup and said that Ankara has not formally requested the extradition of a cleric who is in the US and is appointed as guilty of trying to blow.
The spokesman for the State Department Mark Toner said the United States made no assessment of whether the Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen had some role in the coup attempt.
He said at the State Department knows, Gulen is living peacefully in Pennsylvania.
Ankara has accused Gulen of planning the coup. Gulen, who has a lot of followers in Turkey, has denied any involvement.
Toner said the United States would welcome a formal request of extradition Gulen Turkey along with some proof of their involvement.
