Russian plane wreckage are found in Egypt and the 1st 'victims' are removed





Cairo, 31 Oct 2015 (AFP) - The Egyptian authorities located the wreckage of a Russian chartered plane that crashed on Saturday with 224 people on board in the center of Sinai, announced in a statement the office of Prime Minister Ismail Chérif.

"The Army planes found the wreckage of the plane (...) in a mountainous region, 45 ambulances were sent to the scene to rescue the wounded and remove the dead," the statement said.

Also according to the authorities, the first "victims" fall have been removed in the wreckage.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had indicated that an airplane "Russian civil" had fallen in the area after taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh.

An official of the airspace control service in Egypt told AFP that communication with the aircraft was stopped on the Sinai. The plane was heading to St. Petersburg and was carrying 217 passengers and 7 crew members.

"Since then, the plane made no contact and will not appear on the radar," the source added.
