Canada will only accept refugee women, children and families

The Government of Canada announced on Tuesday a plan to receive 25,000 Syrian refugees in the coming weeks, but will only accept women, children and families, for security reasons, as informed the Canadian public television.

According to the CBC, who said he had access to the plan that will be presented tomorrow, the Syrian men who are not accompanied by their families will not be accepted as refugees.

The initiative details to accept 25,000 Syrian refugees will be released on Tuesday by the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the Liberal Party, which won the day of the elections on October 19 with a platform which proposed, among other things, that protection before the end of the year.

The station reported that to achieve this goal, the government will create an air bridge between the refugee camps in the region and Canada to transfer 900 Syrians daily.

The conflict experienced by Syria since March 2011, when it emerged a series of protests against the government of President Bashar al Assad, left 220 000 dead and more than four million refugees in neighboring countries and 7.6 million internally displaced persons, according to UN estimates.

Six weeks ago, Canadian officials began the process information of 100 people a day in the camps of Lebanon's refugees to select the 25,000 people who will be supported.

Refugees who come to Toronto and Montreal, will initially be hosted on military bases, hospitals and schools in disuse, as well as hotels.

The resettlement plan of 25 000 refugees cost about 1.2 billion Canadian dollars (US $ 3.343 billion) over the next years.

Trudeau will meet today with the prime ministers of the 10 provinces and three territories of Canada to address, among other things, the distribution of Syrian refugees.

Contrary to what occurs in the United States, the Wall of rejection is an exception in Canada and most provincial prime ministers, as well as the mayors of the largest cities in the country, expressed support for the arrival of Syrian refugees.

The largest provinces, like Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, have already agreed to accept thousands of refugees in their territories.
