Nigerian boy accused of witchcraft: he wandered the streets alone after being abandoned by family and rejected by the community

Exciting! A Nigerian boy who was abandoned by his family after being accused of witchcraft made immense progress in his recovery after being rescued by a humanitarian worker.

Two months ago, devastating images circulated on the Internet.

The photos showed the child, who was named Hope (Hope, in English), severely injured and malnourished. He wandered the streets alone after being abandoned by family and rejected by the community.

Now Hope, which has between two and three years, appeared unrecognizable images shared by Anja Ringgren Loven, founder of the African Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation (DINNødhjælp).

Hope was adopted by the Danish and, she said, now he is "enjoying life", along with 35 other brothers and sisters. Next week, the boy will be operated to correct a dysfunction in the urethra.
