London - The number of trained British police to deal with firearms should be increased by almost a third in a response to fears that terrorists could carry out a mass shooting in the country style that took place from Paris late last year.
The British government said 1,500 police forces disarmed in England and Wales will receive specialized training that will allow them to carry firearms before an imminent threat. The total will be 7,500 armed soldiers in the British streets.
The government said the move was prompted by attacks on Charlie Hebdo, in January 2015, and the attack in a concert hall in November.
"After the attack on Charlie Hebdo last year we decided to evaluate increase our defense strategies against the kind of terrorist threat we face now," said British Prime Minister David Cameron.
