Videos and photos shared on social networks show the girl having sex with other students in the bathroom of South Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, Florida. The story prompted several reviews on the internet, most of them judging the behavior of the girl. Until last Wednesday, a family friend revealed in an interview with American NBC television network, that the girl was, until recently, victim of human trafficking and sexual abuse.
"She was not prepared to have a stable and rational decision in that situation," said Megan Estrem, founder of the NGO Be the Light ( "Be the Light", in literal translation).
"Sex trafficking is a very traumatic experience," he added. "What is disturbing is that this kind of behavior is not uncommon among the victims."
Estrem gave the interview at the request of the girl's mother, who, according to the American press, was outraged at the reviews on girl.
