British go to the supermarket with 'moto-tank' of the 2nd War

Briton Tim Hayes, 52, has caused astonishment in Birmingham in the UK, when out with his German tank of World War II that combines features of a shielded and a motorcycle, according to the British newspaper "Daily Mail".

The vehicle weighs more than a ton and is powered by a motor 1500 cc, but has a motorcycle handlebars ahead. According to the paper, this type of tank appeared in the film "Saving Private Ryan", directed by Steven Spielberg.

Hayes, who works at night, said he loves hanging out with his Kettenkrad, as it is called the vehicle during the day. "The Kettenkrad is my pride and joy. In fact, it is the only tank of its kind in the UK," he told the "Daily Mail".

"I work at night, but when I have to go shopping or go to town, I go with the Kettenkrad," said Hayes, who paid 40,000 pounds (about US $ 130,000) for "briquedinho". According to him, people are fascinated with the vehicle.

The Kettenkrad began production in 1938, but stopped six years later. According to the "Daily Mail", only 8,345 units were made during the period.
