Ivory Coast waiting for the results of the presidential

Five years after the post-election crisis of 2010 made 3,000 dead, Ivory Coast awaits the results of the presidential elections on Sunday. The counting took place without incident and there was a 60 percent response rate.
The presidential elections in the Ivory Coast on Sunday, took place without incident and the vote count began at the end of the day, after the close of polls. The Electoral Commission should announce the first partial results on the afternoon of Monday. The participation rate was 60 percent.

Thousands of soldiers and police were mobilized across the country to contain the risk of electoral violence.

The outgoing president, Alassane Ouattara, was given as the overwhelming favorite of the presidential elections, the first since the civil war that left over 3,000 dead. In the eyes of public opinion, Ouattara is associated with the recovery of the Ivorian economy. The Ivory Coast is the first cocoa producer in the world and a "heavyweight" economic region.

The election was also marked by the call to boycott launched by the Ivorian Popular Front of former President Laurent Gbagbo. Three other candidates joined the appeal, including former Prime Minister Charles Konan Banny. Their opponents denounce "an electoral farce" and the dissolution of the Independent Electoral Commission to consider favorable to the outgoing president.

Alassane Ouattara pledged to respect the two-term limit and retire in 2020 if re-elected, at a time when leaders of several African countries changed the Constitution to remain more time in front of the destinies of their countries.

The main Ouattara Pascal Affi N'Guessan opponent is, president of the Ivorian Popular Front.

In 2010, the refusal of Laurent Gbagbo to accept the victory of Alassane Ouattara led to a war that has caused 3,000 deaths. Gbagbo is awaiting trial at the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
