Qatar, Kazakhstan sign pacts to boost relations
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev witness the signing of an agreement between the governments of Qatar and Kazakhstan at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
Qatar and Kazakhstan signed two agreements and a memorandum of understanding following a round of official talks chaired by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
The session was attended by HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Special representative of HH the Emir, and several ministers.
On the Kazakh side, the talks were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying President Nazarbayev.
The talks dealt with bilateral relations and means to develop them in different spheres, particularly the economic field, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
Following the talks, the Emir and President Nazarbayev witnessed the signing of an agreement between the governments of Qatar and Kazakhstan on visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and special passports, a co-operation agreement in cultural and artistic fields and a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Central
Bank and the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
Earlier on arrival at the Emiri Diwan, President Nazarbayev was accorded an official reception ceremony.
The Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of President Nazarbayev and the accompanying delegation.
Later in the evening, President Nazarbayev left Doha after concluding a state visit to the country.
He was seen off at the Hamad International Airport by HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to Kazakhstan Abdulla Ahmed al-Mutawa and Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Qatar Askar Shokybayev.
