Almost half of Americans who support the Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald Trump in the race for president of the United States says it wants, above all, prevent the other side wins, said a Reuters / Ipsos survey on Thursday (05/05 ).

When asked about the main reason to support Trump in the presidential election of November 8, about 47% of his voters said they would vote in the American tycoon because they do not want the former secretrária State win. Another 43% said they had appreciation for their political positions, and 6% justified he pleases as a person.

similar responses prevailed among Hillary voters. About 46% of respondents said they would vote for it mainly because they do not want Trump as president, another 40% said they agree with their political platforms and 11% said that it pleases them personally.

According to Larry Sabato, director of the Policy Center at the University of Virginia, the survey results reflect a deep ideological divide in the US, where the population is increasingly concerned the opposition party. This feeling is exacerbated by the likely dispute between Trump and Hillary.

"This phenomenon is called negative partisanship," said Sabato. "If we were trying to maximize the effect, we could not have found better than indicated Trump and Hillary."

With its coarse and its hardline proposals speech, Trump won both enthusiastic supporters and violent critics. Among the tycoon government ideas are the renegotiation of international trade agreements, the construction of a wall on the US-Mexico border and a temporary ban on the entry of Muslims in the country.

But the Clinton appeal to voters who want the continuation of the current US President policies, Barack Obama, won him a decisive lead in the race for the nomination of his party, but it loses strength among those who are disillusioned with the two Democratic seats.

The survey conducted between April 29 and May 5, interviewed 469 potential voters and 599 voters Trump potential Hillary, and has a margin of error of five percentage points.
