Several delegations refuse to hear Temer speech at UN
The president of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís, and members of other delegations from Latin American countries abandoned on Tuesday the plenary of the UN General Assembly, refusing to listen to the speech of President Michel Temer.
The Solís gesture was recorded on video, where you can see the president coming out of the floor along with his Foreign Minister, Manuel González.
For his part, Foreign Minister of Ecuador, Guillaume Long, said on Twitter that several delegations did the same thing.
"Ecuador, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua out of the general debate of the UN General Assembly when Michel Temer took the word" Long posted.
The Foreign Ministry of Costa Rica issued an official statement which confirmed the decision not to hear the message of Temer.
"Our decision, sovereign and individual, not to hear the message of Mr. Michel Temer in the General Assembly, follows our doubt that at certain attitudes and actions, if you want to give lessons about democratic practices," stated the Foreign Ministry.
