USA Today warned against the dangerous demagoguery Trump
Washington, 30 Sep 2016 (AFP) - The American newspaper USA Today broke with its policy exemption tradition and sided on Friday in the electoral race, to warn his readers that "resist the siren songs of a dangerous demagogue" in reference to republican Donald Trump.
The newspaper, nationwide and one of the largest circulation in the United States, never ever in its 34 years of existence had taken sides in the presidential race, but its editorial directory decided to do so this year.
"Never before we had seen no reason to change our position. So far," explained the newspaper.
"This year, one of the candidates - Republican appointed Donald Trump - is not unanimous consensus of the Editorial Directory, fit for the presidency."
"Since the day he declared his candidacy, for 15 months until the first presidential debate, Trump has shown repeatedly that lacks the temperament, knowledge, seriousness and honesty that s US needs their presidents."
The paper lists eight points to explain why the tycoon is not able to occupy the White House.
Trump is "erratic," "no preparation to be commander in chief" and a "serial liar", enumerates the newspaper.
Also "traffics prejudices", "speaks to recklessness," the national dialogue level drops, has a corporate career with ups and downs and has not met with voters with their obligation to apresesentar your income tax.
However, the USA Today refrains from supporting Democrat Hillary Clinton, stating that the directory could not reach a consensus about it.
The newspaper refers to the long political career of Democratic aspirant, but points out his "his lack of candor and his extreme carelessness in handling confidential information."
Hillary Clinton has flaws, "despite these faults being less likely to threaten national security or lead to a constitutional crisis," also emphasizes the paper, in clear reference to the threat that Trump is in this sense.
The USA Tody asks voters to vote for Hillary in a third candidate or to focus on the election of other positions that are at stake in the vote on 8 November.
"Whatever you do, resist, however, the siren song of a dangerous demagogue. Please vote, but vote for Donald Trump," sentences.
USA Today is the latest in a series of papers that expressed their rejection of Trump.
conservative newspapers like The Arizona Republic, Cincinnati Enquirer and Dallas Morning News broke with years of support to Republican candidates and expressed their support for Hillary Clinton.
Newspapers respected as The New York Times "also expressed their support for former Secretary of State and former first lady.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump locked in a tight race for the White House, with a slight advantage of 2.6 points from the Democratic candidate, according to the latest average of surveys conducted by the RealClearPolitics website.
