Kevin Costner says that his first book is to last for generations
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Oscar-winning director Kevin Costner became writer in style, taking off on a long adventure story, which adds 784 pages, and whose objective is to last for generations.
"The Explorers Guild", the star of 60 years of "Just My Luck" written with Jim Baird, is set during the First World War. The book tells of a group of adventurers on a quest around the world to find a mythical city.
The "idea that this book will be read 150 years from now may be arrogant," Costner told reporters in Washington on Friday, along with Baird and illustrator Rich Ross.
"You can not take a place among the books we love, but we wanted it."
"The Explorers Guild", the first novel by Costner, Ross has illustrations in comic style, artist Costner said he entered a classified site.
"I love the idea of the physicality of the heroes who try to use their resources to escape situations," said Costner, who compared the book "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne.
