Photographer captures ghost town from the time that the US was being colonized

Bodie, California is an abandoned mining town east of the Sierra Nevada mountains, practically in the middle of nowhere. It is supposedly a ghost town with a rich history of visions of spirits and curses. Although old, there are still many standing buildings and filled with objects that settlers could not take with you when the gold ran out.
The site is like a modern Pompei, wherein the lives of real people are today covered by a layer of dust and objects that remain exactly where they were left.
