Yes, you read that right: A Philadelphia biotechnology company intends to revive 20 people. And they got ethical approval of a board of directors of the health agencies of the United States and India to touch the idea forward.
In a six-week period the company called Bioquak, will use a project called reanimates to try to bring these people back to life.
Patients are clinically dead and rely on appliances to keep minimally active. The Bioquak intend to use stem cells, nerve stimulation and other techniques to try to reverse the situation.
"To undertake an initiative of such complexity are combining biological regenerative medicine tools with other medical devices typically used to stimulate the central nervous system in patients with other severe disorders of consciousness," said Dr. Ira Shepherd, CEO of the company.
According to The Next Web, the Bioquak is based on recent studies that suggest that there is still some brain activity and blood flow after brain death, but this is not enough for the body to continue operating normally. There are other creatures that can reverse the situation with regeneration, repair or remodeling parts of the brain completely.
Pastor believes that the first results should be seen in the first two or three months. "This is the first attempt of the kind and another step toward a possible [process] reversal of death."
