Kevin Spacey invents spam technology

O ator Kevin Spacey como Francis Underwood

When he is not ruling the US and trying to manipulate politics in Washington, Frank Underwood plays video games. The actor who plays him, Kevin Spacey, goes further: it records technology patents.

The protagonist of House of Cards joined the series producer Dana Brunetti, for an unusual project: to create an e-mail server that blocks spam and protects your privacy.

It is easy to imagine how the idea came - if we, mere mortals, we have received a good deal of e-mails not required, you can imagine the nightmare that is someone's inbox as Spacey.

That's exactly what happened. In an interview with Variety magazine's website, Brunetti explained that Spacey has had to change e-mail several times, because your friends or agents forgot to add it as a blind carbon copy - and all other recipients ended up having access to your address, that eventually leaked to the public.

With this, they began to look for solutions so that only authorized people could send messages.

The double the patented invention is a mail server that analyzes the message and compares the sender to a list of authorized users.

The method works as opposed to the current Antispams in which you report an email address to send spam and it goes into a "black list" of blocked senders.

The patent Spacey works with a "white list", with senders that can be allowed or disallowed at any time.

Thus, no matter if the email address leak or if "painted on the side of a building" as suggested Brunetti.

If Kevin Spacey send an email to someone, that person automatically enters his authorized list - this goes for any user.

But if he receives an email from an unknown, the server filters the message and reply to the sender that he is not allowed to contact.

In this case, the platform also offers the possibility of the sender to enter an authorization code, which can be sent by email owner to friends and acquaintances.

According to the patent, the tool can be added to existing services of e-mail, such as Gmail or Outlook.

Even for non-celebrity, the invention allows the user has more control over the type of message that you receive - can prevent from unwanted advertisements to ex-boyfriends and stalkers.

Overall, it gives more security to users who naively would click in e-mails with viruses.

Perhaps the biggest presidential made of Frank Underwood is banishing forever attachments as "the party of the photos were ótimas.exe".
