Obama makes a mockery of himself at the last dinner with journalists

The President of the United States, Barack Obama, in dinner with journalists

President Barack Obama offered on this Saturday night, for the eighth and final time, the annual gala dinner to journalists who cover the day to day in the White House.

At the time, Obama made a joke about himself and his opponents, in an event in which, every year, the President of the United States has the opportunity to do a stand-up to correspondents and other celebrities.

"It's an honor to be in my last dinner with the correspondestes. You have a radiant appearance; the Republic in its final never had looked so radiant, "said at the beginning of his speech.

"Next year, we will have a new President, despite not knowing who's going to be ' it'," he added, alluding ironically to Hillary Clinton, and welcoming, in addition, BernieSanders, the only presidential candidate present at the dinner, as "the younger faceof the Democratic Party".

"Bernie, you've grown on me. That doesn't make you a comrade, "said the presidential hopeful, often labeled as a Communist.

But the President did not leave aside Hillary and the controversy surrounding his age: "you have to admit: Hillary, trying to seduce the young, it's like an old aunt who open a Facebook account".

But the favorite theme of Obama was the multimillionaire Donald Trump, who this year didn't attend the dinner to which is a frequent participant.

"I'm a little mogoado with his absence," said Obama. "We had so much fun last time. (...) I wonder what he's doing? Be home eating a steak? Tittering insults to AngelaMerkel?, he asked.

"The ' establishment ' Republican still doesn't believe [Trump] is shown. They say that he lacks foreign policy experience, but he's been meeting with foreign leaders. Miss Sweden. Miss Argentina. Miss Azerbaijan, "said the President in reference to the Miss Universe pageant organized by Trump. Obama pulled out laughter from the audience.

The President also threw their darts against the press for giving so much coverage to Trump, "a cover in tune with the seriousness of his candidacy".

"You should be proud of yourselves," joked.

Also don't forget to mess with Republicans depending on the candidacy of Trump, and sent a message to the party leader Reince Priebus,.

"Keep it up. Congratulations on all the success. Everything is going well. Keep it up".

The Democratic President also joked about how aged during his eight-year term onthe increase of its popularity in the polls in recent months.

"The last time I was so high, was deciding my course at the University," he said, making a pun between the word high (high and also stoned, in English), in reference to his years as a student, when smoked pot.

On occasion, however, took a moment of seriousness to pay tribute to the work ofWashington Post correspondent in Iran, Jason Rezaian, released in January after spending 18 months in a prison in the country.

Obama ended his speech saying "Obama out" (outside), dropping at the same time,the microphone on the ground, a gesture popularized by music stars and that means that the show was so good that there's nothing more to say.

Among the guests present were actors like Will Smith, his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Kerry Washington, known for tv series "Scandal," Helen Mirren, Bryan Cranston and singer Aretha Franklin.
